![]() I'm more speaking along the lines of aesthetics and not including stuff that typically appears in anime like cute little girls, toy-like-looking animals or monsters, and I guess really androgynous skinny male characters. It's very rare for Japanese developers to make something with a wide appeal like towards Westerners with games like the Souls series, Metal Gear Solid, and I guess Resident Evil. A game where you play as a petite android girl that's young wearing a sexy maid outfit using a katana and being accompanied by some cute robot friends and also an androgynous boy (1B) that appears far younger than her while also coming across other similar androgynous male characters really makes it obvious this was made for a Japanese audience in mind and just distinctly makes it obvious where it was made from, Japan. The other character has different tweaks, and there are additional cutscenes and fun differences, but this part of the game can feel a little lame. The main criticism many have is that there is a point where they want you to replay much of the game so far with another character. ![]() 3D action, 2D action, platforming elements, shooter, bullet hell, RPG levelling and progression, etc. Gameplay wise, the game somehow weaves various gameplay styles together in a way that feels fluid and purposeful. Yes, that includes the fact that you play as a female android wearing a leotard showing ample amounts of her rear end. The game handles these themes surprisingly well too and seemingly goofy things early on turn out to be tied to those themes later on. The story explores various philosophical themes like, "what is the meaning of life?", "what does it mean to be human?", "what is the purpose of religion?", "what is free will?". in a never ending spiral of life and death". You get this impression as soon as you start it, with 2B narrating "We are perpetually trapped. Wed 24th Aug Story wise, it's a very philosophical game.
